#FPS FOR MAC PRO#
I am using an SSD as my boot drive with the Mac Pro and that I think is helping to give good frame rates. Although, you don't seem to be able to pick a certain application to monitor (I may just not be using it right). It brings up a little accelerometer-style thing for the screen FPS. Getting it is a little long winded though. You might want to check to see if that might be a factor. Another thing that might be a help is an SSD as they are much faster than a rotational HD. FPS Counter Well, there is a kind of native Apple FPS counter for OS X. Having plenty of free disc space and plenty of physical Ram I think fills in the gaps when the video ram is tasked to its limit. The amount of physical ram that your machine has and the amount of space that is free on your hard drives may be another factor. This gives me cause to wonder why my AMD card with my Mac Pro can have an average of 100+ FPS with a high of 220FPS and a low of 60FPS as it has only 1gig of video memory. Tis an Intel Graphics with 1.5 gigs of video memory and that should be enough.

I have slow frame with my Mac Book Air which can be like a slide show at the slowest and it is pretty smooth when it is at 60 FPS.
